Documentary about public housing in Amsterdam. A socio-economic documentary about housing in Amsterdam. As a result of modern public housing, many older buildings have disappeared. We see shots of the perhaps picturesque, but also poorly-maintained houses, in narrow alleys that sunlight cannot reach. There are shots of the area around the ramparts: the Oudezijds Achterburgwal, Zeedijk, Kattegat, and the Oude Zijds Kolk. The film shows both the harrowing nature of poverty as well as the beauty of decay.
